90 minute appointment includes initial consultation followed by hypnosis.
An initial hypnotherapy consultation is usually a mix of discussion, assessment, and a brief introduction to hypnosis. Here’s what you can expect:
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic practice that uses guided hypnosis to help a client reach a trance-like state of focus, concentration, diminished peripheral awareness and heightened suggestibility. This state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's thoughts or meditations. In it, a person is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but they are not under anyone’s “control.” Instead, a trained clinical hypnotherapist can help clients in this state relax and turn their attention inward to discover and utilize resources within themselves that can help them achieve desired behavioral changes or better manage pain or other physical concerns. Eventually, a client learns how to address their states of awareness on their own and in doing so, gain greater control of their physical and psychological responses.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The therapist will guide you into a relaxed, focused state, typically through the use of mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition.
WHEN IT IS USED: Hypnotherapy can have many applications as a part of treatment for anxiety, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, substance abuse including tobacco, sexual dysfunction, undesirable compulsive behaviors, mood disorders, and bad habits. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address learning disorders, communication issues, and relationship challenges.
Hypnotherapy can aid in pain management and help resolve medical concerns such as digestive disorders, skin conditions, symptoms of autoimmune disorders, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy. Research has found that surgical patients and burn victims can achieve reduced recovery time, anxiety, and pain through hypnotherapy. It can also be used by dentists to help patients control their fears before procedures or to treat teeth grinding and other oral conditions.
***Must Book Initial Consultation + Hypnosis before Hypnotherapy sessions***
Past Life Regression (PLR) is a guided hypnosis technique designed to help individuals access memories or experiences believed to be from past lives. It is based on the idea of reincarnation and is often used for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
During a session, a practitioner leads you into a relaxed, meditative state where you may recall visions, emotions, or experiences from another lifetime. Many people seek PLR to gain insight into current life patterns, phobias, relationships, or unexplained emotions.
While some approach it spiritually, others see it as a way to explore the subconscious mind. Whether for curiosity or deeper healing, it can be a fascinating and introspective experience.
Note: Some conditions may require a referral from a medical doctor or psychiatrist.
Hypnosis helps you control unwanted behaviors or behaviors you would like to change. When performed by a trained provider, it is a safe, complementary medical treatment.
As more and more studies show that hypnosis helps patients with many common medical problems, interest in hypnotherapy for medical issues is greater than ever before.
The use of hypnosis for medical issues is not exactly new. Back in 1958, the American Medical Association (AMA) recognized that hypnosis is a useful technique in the treatment of certain illnesses and a valid medical procedure. In fact, the Wall Street Journal reported in 2003 that hypnosis “is increasingly being employed in mainstream medicine” and in 2012 that “scientific evidence is mounting that hypnosis can be effective in a variety of medical situations.”
A 2016 study done by researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine confirms that hypnosis is indeed a real thing. The study was conducted with functional magnetic resonance imaging, a scanning method that measures blood flow in the brain. It found changes in activity in brain areas of hypnotized persons that are thought to be involved in focused attention, the monitoring and control of the body’s functioning, and the awareness and evaluation of a person’s internal and external environments.
Yet, hypnosis is still underutilized for medical issues. In 2016, Pierre-Yves Rodondi, a doctor at the University Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the Lausanne University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, said: "If hypnosis were a medication it would already be in all hospitals, but it is an approach, and thus it must overcome cultural barriers."
